STTA-PCF Table Tennis Programme

STTA-PCF Table Tennis Programme

The STTA-PCF table tennis programme was first introduced to PAP Community Foundation (PCF) Kindergartens at Nee Soon South in January 2009.  Every year, over 1000 children at PCF Kindergartens are exposed to the STTA-PCF table tennis programme.

We have plans to expand this programme to all the 87 constituencies and we hope to seek meaningful partnerships with other companies in various industries to develop this programme further.

We have started to see results in our programme, Andy Wong Yan Kai, a graduate of the STTA-PCF Table tennis programme, is crowned the boy’s singles champion for the Crocodile Challenge Cup 2011, Dr Ng Eng Hen Cup STTA Table Tennis Championships 2012 (under 9 years old category) & Chinese Swimming Club – STTA Table Tennis Championships 2012 (under 9 years old category).

Through the STTA-PCF table tennis programme, we hope to identify and nurture talented and promising players. Talented players are sent to the association’s zone training centres located at Bishan, Tampines, Toa Payoh, Yishun, Clementi, Jurong West and Bedok-Reservoir (Hougang) for intensive training.

From these zone training centres, the more promising ones will be directed to our Youth Development Squad when they get to Primary 6.

With the seeds for the growth of local talent firmly planted, we believe our programme will start to see results in the next 10 years. And we hope these young paddlers are able to represent Singapore within 15 to 20 years.
