Just days after clinching a 3rd place finish in the U17 Girls Singles at the WTT Youth Contender Darwin 2024, Janelle Chiang made it two in a row, after also clinching 3rd place in the U19 Girls Singles.
With only 8 competitors in the U19 Girls Singles, this meant that the top two finishers of both groups in the Group Stage squared off in the semifinals.
After finishing 2nd in her group with 2 wins and 1 loss, the 14 year-old Singaporean teenager was up against Sakurako Kagawa, 13, of Japan.
In a battle of the two youngsters, it was the Japanese who prevailed, coming out victorious, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5.
In an Instagram post, the Singapore Sports School student said that she was grateful, and happy with her two third-place finishes.
