Loy Ming Ying continued her impressive form in 2024 as she finished 2nd in the U15 Girls Singles at the WTT Youth Contender Spa 2024.
Her storming run to the final included four straight 3-0 victories, over teammate Sie Lay Yin in the Round of 32, Kim Kanguen of Korea in the Round of 16, Lou-Ann Bocquet of France in the quarterfinals and then Vaishnavi Jaiswal of India in the semifinals.
Facing a familiar opponent in yet another Korean in Lee Dahye, whom she had lost to in Metz a few days ago in the Round of 16 by a 1-3 scoreline, the 13-year-old Singaporean teenager was looking to get a measure of revenge.
However, it was the Korean who proved too strong once again, as Ming Ying fell in straight sets, 5-11, 8-11, 9-11, despite putting up a spirited fight.
The world-ranked 19th for U15 Girls adds this accolade to her U15 Girls Singles title at Antalya, and her 3rd place finish in Tunis for 2024, with many more to come.
