Singapore’s Loy Ming Ying, 14, and France’s Noah Vitel, 15, clinched bronze in the U15 Mixed Doubles at the ITTF World Youth Championships 2024 in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The pair were defeated 3-0 in the semifinals by hot favourites, Li Hechen and Yao Ruixuan of China, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6.
They had earlier come from two sets down against Korea’s Ma Yeongmin and Heo Yerim to win their quarterfinal, 3-2 (2-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-8) to set up the clash against the Chinese.
Ming Ying, making her debut at the World Youth Championships, was also in action in the U15 Girls Doubles, however, she and partner Sunny Zhang of Canada fell at the first hurdle in the Round of 16, losing to the more experienced pair from Hong Kong, Su Tsz Tung and Mak Ming Shum, 2-3 (11-5, 10-12, 8-11, 11-9, 7-11).
She will be in action in the U15 Girls singles, starting on Tuesday.
