Singapore bagged two golds on the second day of competition at the South East Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships 2024 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, courtesy of both the U15 and U19 girls teams.
Both teams faced off against Thailand in their respective finals, and the U15 girls team of Loy Ming Ying, Janelle Chiang, Chong Zi Sian and Giselle Chin, emerged 3-1 victors after going a game behind.

The U19 girls team, consisting of Ser Lin Qian, Tan Zhao Yun, Chloe Lai and Joeunn Seow survived a fightback from their Thai opponents after seeing their 2-0 lead evaporate as the Thais levelled the match at 2-2, before Tan held her nerve in a five-set decider to win 3-2, and give Singapore the eventual 3-2 victory as well, and a place at the upcoming Asian Youth Championships 2024 to be held in Chongqing in June.

In addition to the two golds, Team Singapore also bagged a bronze courtesy of the U19 Boys team, when they beat the Philippines, 3-1. The team of Loy Xing Yao, Nicholas Tan, Yang Ze Yi and Aron Ng were on the wrong end of a nail biting clash in the semi finals against Vietnam, losing 2-3.

Singapore’s U15 boys team of Benaiah Seah, Benjamin Lau, Zavi Lim and Koh Manyong did not qualify for the knockout stages after finishing third in their group following defeats to the Philippines and Malaysia, and a win against Cambodia.
