Singapore Table Tennis Stars Shine Bright at WTT Youth Contender Darwin 2023Singapore, October 2, 2023 – Singapore’s commitment to nurturing young table tennis talents was on full display at the WTT Youth Contender Darwin 2023, where 11 junior players represented the nation. Their outstanding performance culminated in one silver and three bronze medals at the tournament held from 28 September to 1st October 2023.
In the U11 Girls’ Singles category, Singapore’s TAN Clara (陈盈璇), 11 years old finished with a well-deserved bronze medal.
In the U11 Boys’ Singles category, TAN Zhi Yue (陈致越) and LIN Yilong (林以龙), both 11 years old, showcased their remarkable skills, consistently delivering exceptional performances from the group stage all the way to the semi-finals. Their impressive display of talent earned them a shared bronze medal.
LOH Yi Xi (劳意喜), another promising 11-year-old Singaporean player, displayed remarkable form throughout the tournament. He exhibited exceptional skills during the group stage, including a walkover win against Samyukt VINODHKUM from Australia, victories over teammate ANG Ray Teng, and Brian TESLER from Australia. LOH Yi Xi continued his stellar performance in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and faced a formidable opponent, Lawrence FAN from Australia, in the finals. His incredible journey culminated in a silver medal, symbolizing his outstanding achievements in the U11 Boys’ Singles category.
