The Republic took home 11 gold medals out of the 13 titles at stake at the South East Asia Junior & Cadet Table Tennis Championships which began on 4th July 2018, ended today at Naga city, Philippines.
The nation’s previous best showing was 10 gold medals at the 2016 edition in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
In addition to the 11 gold medals, Singapore’s medal tally included 2 Silver and 10 Bronze medals.
Singapore claimed all the Junior (U-18) and Cadet (U-15) boys’ and girls’ singles events at the tournament. Both Koen Pang and Wong Xinru won the junior singles titles. In the cadet singles events, Andy Wong and Zhou Jingyi won the singles titles. Furthermore, our youths dominated in the JuniorMixed Doubles event, winning the gold, silver and bronze medals.
Held across five days, the 24th edition featured competitors from six other Asean countries – Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.
